Managing your library catalogue, circulation and activities through any web browser
e-Celtic's web based library system allow librarians to more efficiently manage their library and allow readers to utilise its potential.
Readers can search and retrieve information in the library catalogue as members of the site. It provides all corresponding details on the book, periodical, magazine, journal or other. This indexed collection can be accessed from any device with an internet connection at any time. The librarian has the ability to view member details and edit item records through admin access.
The system has a clean intuitive design that allows the user to navigate the system easily. The technology is powered by a MySQL database running on an Apache web server with a front end designed with servlets, HTML and java script accessible from any web browser.
Staff can have better control of the circulation of items in and out of the library with stock maintenance ensuring that all items are fully traceable (this may involve a barcode solution also if required). The item records will be updated in real-time to reflect its status whether it is on the shelf or out in use. If it is out in use, a reservation option can be implemented to notify that there is a hold placed on the item after the item comes up for renewal.
Statistical reports can be generated directly from the system on a daily basis to provide a management overview of the entire catalogue status. This will provide details at a glance on how many searches were conducted for items, how many items are out/in use/overdue/missing etc.
